There's plenty of teachers who will happily let you plod on for years without really getting anywhere.
There's no plan. There's no goal. Just lesson after lesson leading nowhere.
That's not how I do things.
I want to see massive progress - every single lesson.
I'm sure you do too.
I've got a plan to make this happen.
But it's only going to work if you really, really want to do this.
Master the foundations so you can play along with most songs by ear.
What We'll Do
1. Master The 'Money Beat'
Master the most famous beat ever - the "money beat" (named so as it appears on so many hit records).
We'll learn it step by step, build it up and play it with songs. Most students manage this in the first lesson.
2. Upgrade it
Let's upgrade the money beat, adding extra notes on the left hand and right foot. This makes things sound much more impressive.
We'll also switch over to the ride cymbal and add crashes.
3. Move Around The Kit
The next step is to start using the toms. We'll do this in a couple of ways - first using toms in a beat, and then playing fills to link up different patterns.
4. Add Extra Styles
Add 16th, Punk, 6/8 and Shuffle beats so you’re ready to play any type of song you hear. We'll practice each with songs.
5. Take The '10 Second' Test
Let's use everything you've learnt. We'll listen to the first 10 seconds of a song, recognise the beat and play along. We'll do this for 10 songs in a row.
Hone your skills by learning your favourites from a list of 150+ of the best drum songs ever written.

High Level Goals
1. Fix Technique
Fix your technique, ergonomics and posture. Learn 3 point grip to play faster, louder and more precisely.
2. Razor Sharpen Timing
Good can always be better - learn the exercise that will turn your brain inside out to create machine-like consistency.
3. Build Chops
Every player needs a bag of tricks they can pull from. Let’s master flowing with the big five - Bonhams, Hertas, Crosses, Quads and Sweeps.
4. Get Fast
Perfectly controlled double strokes are the skill that separates the best from the rest. Learn how drill around the kit with lighting speed and precise control.
5. The Final Frontier
Master the final frontier - linear playing. Go beyond the Chaffee method and improvise using Linear Toolkit rudiments.
I believe anyone can do this.
Talent is a myth. No-one ever got good by accident.
What people call 'Talent' is enthusiasm multiplied by hard work.
Anyone is capable of that. But you must really want it.
